Courses

ATFA courses offer participants the opportunity to up skill and add to their credentials. The premier training course the New Techniques Program – Install and Finish is available along with the Advanced Course, and the very popular Assessing Timber Floor Performance runs regularly and is available in most capital cities.

Assessing Timber Floor Performance

The Assessing Timber Floor Performance course successfully adapted from and replaces the ATFA Floor Inspector Course is a two day course designed for those who want to get to the bottom of things. This two day course will not only provide you with a sound understanding of the behaviour of different flooring products, but importantly the practicalities of taking measurements correctly and then correctly interpreting what they mean.

Included in the course is a series of case studies that will provide practical ‘know how’ on taking measurements, using and understanding measurement equipment (including timber and concrete moisture measurement) and also how to assess the likes of sub-floors, whether this be joists, particleboard or a concrete slab.

The course is ideally suited to technical and sales personnel, insurance assessors, regulatory agencies, installers of solid, engineered bamboo and laminate flooring, manufacturers, flooring suppliers, sanders and finishers, and floor inspectors irrespective of whether you have been in the industry for a short period or for some time.

The benefits of attending ATFA courses are numerous, but don’t just take our word for it:

‘Your course has revolutionised the way we will run our business. I also now have the confidence to know I can really minimise errors.’

‘I just want to comment on how professionally the New Techniques Course was conducted. The knowledge and skills the instructors imparted to all who attended will be invaluable. I am very thankful I attended the course as I am already using some of these new techniques. I would recommend the course to anyone who is interested in improving their own skills base.’

ATFA one and two day as well as half-day workshops are designed to give you a good understanding of a topic, without taking too much time out from your day job.

Assessing Timber Floor Coating Performance

This year new content has been added to Assessing Timber Floor Coating Performance one day workshop. When working with timber floors we find that many from the industry are requested to assess client concerns. It may be the manufacturer, flooring supplier, installer or sander and polisher who is called in to look at the flooring concern.

This workshop will assist in providing the necessary skills, as well as considering ways to approach customers. The workshop gives participants the opportunity to share and discuss experiences, and just as importantly listen and learn from the experiences of others, plus provides fundamental information on the characteristics and performance of various flooring products; solid, bamboo, engineered.

The course is ideally suited to technical and sales personnel, insurance assessors, regulatory agencies, installers of solid, engineered bamboo and laminate flooring, manufacturers, flooring suppliers, sanders and finishers, floor inspectors. Irrespective of whether you have been in the industry for a short period or for some time, this workshop has vital information.

Testing Moisture in Timber and Concrete

The course is ideally suited to technical and sales personnel, insurance assessors, regulatory agencies, installers of solid, engineered bamboo and laminate flooring, manufacturers, flooring suppliers, sanders and finishers, floor inspectors.
